Original Oil Paintings
The depth of expression and interest contained in an original oil painting far surpasses anything that a reproduction can communicate. The value of an original oil painting endures and appreciates. An original painting is an heirloom and a bit of history. I intend for my paintings to be a place of rest, hope and renewal.
I invite you to visit my studio to see my original paintings of West Texas. Please communicate with me so that we can make specific plans. We live just two miles off of highway 87 near the Llano River, so you can stop by on your way to Fredericksburg or San Antonio.

12 x 24 inches. He is dumping the cotton in the boll buggy and all around he sees the glorious colorful sunset changing moment by moment until the light comes only from the other tractor headlights and the stars. 2200
The Sky Below
24 x 48 inches. I am drawn to these riverbed patterns like a moth to a flame. Forgive the cliché. Yet, in my paintings, I really need (yes, need) to have an illusion of space. So, in this painting, the reflection of the summer sky is my answer to this mandate. 5200
SOLD: The Green
16 x 20 inches. The strong primary and secondary colors of this farm equipment are very compelling in the late afternoon sun and the abundance of the harvest is a gratifying reward for risks taken and a lot of hard work. I love the abstract nature of this equipment. 1800
The Committee
24 x 48 inches. Our rancher friends have mostly Angus, but they received these two longhorns as a gift. They look kinda like pets, but when asked their names, our friends replied “Dead Man Walking and Chewey”. Hmm. Another friend said the painting reminded her of a committee at her prior place of employment. The committee was up to no good. Maybe you will have a storyline? Social distancing? 4800
The Bridge
32 x 48 inches. You are looking at the Brazos riverbed and the water is flowing in front of you toward Lake Alan Henry. You see the reflection of the sky above and the reflection of the Highway 84 bridge which is above you. It's a beautiful abstract realism day. 4800
Steering Wheel
16 x 20 inches. Climb on in and get going with the abstract harvest. 1500
SOLD: Starry Day
24 x 48 inches. The sand fighters are reaching to the sky with their noble blades waiting for battle. 5200
Morning on the Brazos
12 x 27.5 inches. I can hear the wind through the grasses. The morning sun is chasing off the winter chill. This is the last time I saw the cottonwood ahead of me. It must have been swept away by a spring flood. 2300
SOLD: Little Red River
24 x 48 inches. I keep going back to this place up north of Turkey. There is the striking color of earth and the pathos of the erosion, whose pattern paints the distance. 6200
SOLD: Illumoonation 30x40
30 x 40 inches. Out of the blazing sun. I like the tractor and the man who is in it. 3800
I Saw Her Standing There
24 x 32. And the way she looked was way beyond compare! 4200
High and Dry
20 x 48. This is at Monahans Sand Hills. The goal is just up this hill of sand. You can make it! 4600
Get to the Point
25 x 50. The Brazos riverbed. The patterns in the clay. The mystery of the way the water finds its shortcuts. A strange fascination. 4600
Curious, 30 x 40
30 x 40, This pronghorn was sneaking up behind the cholla cactus to check out the visitor with the camera. 4600
SOLD: Dreamland
18 x 60 inches. I have a dream for this painting that it will reside over a king-sized bed in someone’s home. Can you see it? 3800
Cirrus Sunflowers
28 x 40 inches. The big leaves are draped over to soak up every bit of the morning light and the big flower faces are giving back so much sunshine. I love the patterns of the cirrus skyscape. So much joy! 4600
SOLD: Atmosphere
15 x 30 inches. There is a unique light in the fall in west Texas. There is just something special in the air! 3200
SOLD: Don Quixote
44 x 24 inches. My art agent in Houston did not quite connect with this painting. How can you have an emotional connection to this contraption? I can’t explain it. 3200
SOLD: Evening Harvest, 8 x 20 inches
8 x 20 inches. We met these farmers when they got to the end of the row. Very friendly people. 1200
SOLD: The Bead Mound
16 x 36 inches. This mesa in Crosby County caught my attention. I wondered what it is called. The friendly folks at the Pioneer Memorial Museum in Crosbyton said that the local geologists call it the Bead Mound because of Native American artifacts found there. I think it looks like a string of beads on the rim. 3200
SOLD: Split Fountain
56 x 30. This is a view from the highway 84 bridge over the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos. I am looking over the railing to the riverbed below in the morning light. The title comes from a term used in serigraphy where the colors are blended from one hue to another one as the squeegee pulls the ink across the silk. The title also refers to the river where much of the water is under the sand and clay. 6000
That's My Story, 36 x 32.5
36 x 32.5, I was about to paint a layer of greens and grays on top of this magenta underpainting when my fellow artists insisted that the painting was finished. 4200
